During moments of discussion, recognition, or celebration, Robyn provides the essential behind-the-scenes management and direction to make sure the show runs smoothly. She also has experience writing press releases and developing social media campaigns to promote the event to the right audience.
The Chicago Design Museum hosted an exclusive Chicago Design Week opening reception in June 2012. The event hosted more than 1,000 guests, and brought together design legends from all corners of Chicago and the nation. Robyn planned, organized, and directed event logistics, with enormous support from the CHIDM Board of Directors.
Inaugural exhibitions included Debbie Millman: Look Both Ways, Ed Fella: More Into Less, IBM100: Icons of Progress, Fresh Produced: Exploring the Craft of Hand-Painted Signage, and Rodchenko 120. CHIDM also hosted an exclusive film, presented by The Society of Typographic Arts, entitled “The Chicago Design Archive: 27 Chicago Designers”.
Projects reach their greatest potential when all contributing members challenge each other to go further and create beyond their current abilities. At this event, the focus was on the dynamic working relationship between designer and photographer. Designer Rick Valicenti of Thirst/3st and Photographer Tom Vack revealed the creative process that occurred over their printed collaboration for custom luxury furniture designer and showroom presence, Holly Hunt. The 64-page catalog printed at Classic Color was the subject of discussion, and press sheets were on display. Robyn planned the evening’s schedule, and worked closely as liaison between the guest presenters and AIGA Chicago.
